Prado del Rey is located northeast of Cádiz between the provinces of Malaga and Seville bordered by the mountains of Grazalema and the countryside of Jerez.
Recent archaeological findings trace back the town’s earliest civilization to the Bronze Age and the Iberian period. But Prado del Rey’s history lineage as a town took shape from the remnants of a civilization in Iptuci during the 14th century.

The leather industry in this town was a spill-over from the town of Ubrique which prides itself with its artistry in making leather goods. The demand was high at that time and additional labour had to be found. The locals of Prado learned about this and soon this new industry found its way to every house in Prado. As time progressed, leatherwork has become the main passion of the people there and today, about 60 factories are found in the area. It has become the chief livelihood of the people in the region. Masonry and carpentry works on furniture of rustic designs are also becoming popular in this town.
With a climate very suitable for growing flowers which are sources of pollen for the bees, this town is the chief producer of honey.
Constructed in 1790, this is the oldest building in the town. Posito of Farmers became a repository of wheat and barley which were distributed among the people when the town was experiencing great prosperity.
The Feast of the Horse is an annual equestrian competition and exhibition in March. The best horses in the region compete with each other until a champion gets chosen.
